Can i give my toddler Carnation Instant Breakfast?

Q: My 18 month old is terribly picky eater. I give him a variety of foods and will continue to do so, but until he gets the "hang" of eating I have been supplementing his diet with Pediasure. He doesn't get one every day, but on nights that I feel like he hasn't ate much at all, I give him one before bed. The thing is, Pediasure is realllly expensive. I've heard that I could also give him Carnation Instant Breakfast and would like to try that but I would also like to know if anyone else has tried it, did their toddler like it and is it safe for kiddies? Thank you! March: did you not read the question? i realize he should be able to eat what i eat and i DO offer him what i eat. however, he is A PICKY eater, like i said, so i am looking for something to help supplement. march=mush

A: I was thinking about adding this to my son's milk when he hits a year and stops formula. He is not even 1 yet but he is a picky eater and meal time at home is hell. He's just 10 months and I'm 5 months along with another pregnancy ( I know!) I was just thinking after a year I want him to drink cows milk but fear he won't drink it and he already does not eat well he only weighs 17 lbs 8 oz ( he came 4 weeks early so he was less than 6 lbs at birth) which is in like the 5th percentile for his age most babies his age weigh over 20 lbs. I was thinking either this or Ovaltine would be a good thing to try to mix in. Pediasure I would be okay but sooo many moms said that their picky eaters got worse after pediasure and stopped eating all together and did not want to give up the bottle, and with a new born comming I don't want to have to fight my little guy to eat. I think it's safe I would try anything and even now I don't fight with my son he likes what he likes so I give him what he likes even if it's yogurt all day! If my son likes it and it does not make him sick I'll give it to him. And it's powder I drank it before and I liked it a lot try the french vanilla you just add it to whole milk I can't see how it could hurt. Also don't start with a whole packet just try adding a few teaspoonfuls to a 6-8 oz cup of milk. See how he does. I'm sure it won't hurt but start a little at a time to make sure it won't upset his stomach. Hope it works I'm going crazy with my son already.
