Q: My baby is 5 months old and I think he's teething. Lots of drool, trying to "chew" or gnaw when nursing (ouch!) and being fussy and not sleeping well. For the past two days he's had a painful diaper rash. His stools smell like normal breastfed stools so it NOT diarrhea but they are loose and have "flecks" of something in them. Is this all related to teething? P.S. He has no fever
A: A lot of babies get nappy rash when they're teething so yes, it's quite likely they're related. try and let him have as much 'nappy-less' time as you feel brave enough to handle (it can be messy sometimes lol but the fresh air is good for the nappy rash) and put a barrier cream on his bottom when you put a nappy on.
