Q: My Mother-in-law is throwing me a baby shower at a local restaurant. The party is 2 hours long and there will be a lot of guests. What should the time line be for cake, gifts, eating etc? If there is food there, who should pay for it? What am I responsible for doing? I am sure that everything is taken care of, but I am nervous about what I should be doing while I am there.
A: All you are responsible for is showing up,mingling with all your guest and having a good time. I would be totally relaxed about the time line and just let things happen. Go with the flow because if you and the guest are having fun that's all that matters. At my shower we ate first, opened gifts, then served cake. Your MIL is throwing the shower so she should be responsible for the food. Whether she pays or collects money it's up to her. Have fun! Congrats! Let her handle all the details and you just have fun and relax.
